Jonathan Cain Confirms He’s Staying with Journey Through 2027 (2025)

Get ready for a wild ride as we dive into the world of rock and roll drama! The future of Journey, one of the most iconic bands in music history, is at stake!

A recent social media post by Neal Schon, the lead guitarist of Journey, sent fans into a frenzy when he hinted that keyboardist-guitarist Jonathan Cain might be leaving the band. However, the truth is far from over!

In his initial tweet, Schon wrote, "Jonathan Cain announced his farewell to Journey tonight. I'm determined to keep the Journey spirit alive! We have so much more to offer!" But here's where it gets controversial... Schon added, "He wants to focus on his ministry."

A spokesperson for Cain quickly stepped in to clarify, stating, "Jonathan Cain is an integral part of Journey, and any rumors suggesting his departure are false. He is committed to touring with the band for the next few years and has only mentioned retirement as a future possibility."

Schon later confirmed, "Jon is with us. He plans to continue until the end of 2026 or 2027. We're looking forward to an amazing journey together!"

Cain and Schon, the last remaining classic members of Journey, have weathered numerous lineup changes over the years. Drummer Deen Castronovo has been a consistent presence since 1998, while singer Arnel Pineda joined in 2007. The band's current lineup also includes keyboardist Jason Derlatka and bassist Todd Jensen, who replaced Ross Valory and Steve Smith.

Adding to the drama, Schon and Cain were involved in a legal battle over the band's finances while still bandmates, which was finally resolved in 2024.

Cain recently made headlines with his new single, "No One Else," a tribute to the late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, set for release on October 24th. He has also served as a worship leader at the City of Destiny church in Florida, previously led by his wife, Paula White-Cain, who was appointed by President Trump to lead the White House Faith Office.

So, Journey fans, are you relieved that Cain is sticking around for now? Or do you think this is just the calm before the storm? Share your thoughts in the comments! Will Journey's journey continue smoothly, or are there more twists and turns ahead?

And this is the part most people miss... the drama behind the music!

Tweet by Neal Schon: "Jon is playing. He's saying at the end of 26-27 he will move on. We will have a great couple of years. 🤟🏽"
